If you’re looking for the best dog toys for Huskies, grab a cup of coffee and settle in!
From toys that stimulate his mind to those that satisfy his urge to chew, we’ve got you covered.
Below, I’ll share my top picks for this majestic yet high-energy breed!
First, though, let’s talk about why I chose the toys that I did below!
Table of Contents
What types of dog toys are best for Huskies?
Huskies are incredibly intelligent, free-willed and high-energy dogs.
While that combination is what makes them such exceptional working dogs, it can also get them into trouble!
Trust me, as an owner of a super smart yet super energetic breed, I can absolutely attest to that!
So, when I shop for toys, I look for one (or more) of three things:
- Toys that stimulate her mind, such as puzzles and games.
- Durable items that satisfy her urge to chew
- Inexpensive plush toys that give her the satisfaction of shredding and defluffing
For that last one, pretty much any cheap plush toy will do, so I’m not going to add any to our list.
I usually just buy mine from Big Lots, or grab a bunch of holiday toys when they go on clearance at PetSmart.
I want to focus more on the toys that they’ll have for longer than five seconds. 🙂
I’ll break it into two lists: mentally stimulating toys and durable chew toys.
Let’s check out those best dog toys for Huskies now, shall we?

Best Toys for Huskies to Stimulate Their Minds
Use the table below for a quick look at each, then read on for more details.
1. Outward Hound Interactive Puzzle toys
Nina Ottoson puzzles by Outward Hound are among my favorites.
I have one for my dog that she plays every single night!
With 3 different puzzle features, this fun toy tests your Husky’s problem-solving skills.
Can he figure out how to flip open the compartments and find the goodies?
He’ll need to use his brain as well as his nose to find out!
Pros and Cons
- Pros– Different levels of challenge, durable, affordable
- Cons– Eventually he’ll get bored with it.
Recommendation
Once your dog masters one level, removable bone pieces make it even more challenging!
So, it becomes two puzzles in one!
The only major drawback to this game is that eventually your dog will master all “levels.”
I recommend rotating between a few different puzzle games during your training sessions to keep things interesting.
- BOREDOM BUSTER INTERACTIVE DOG TOY: As one of our most popular intermediate level 2 designs, the Dog Brick interactive puzzle includes additional obstacles and combinations of steps that will keep your dog focused and mentally-stimulated as they search and sniff out the tasty treats!
- FLIP, LIFT, & SLIDE TO HIDE TREATS: The Nina Ottosson Dog Brick comes with 3 types of treat hiding compartments to test your furry' friends skills! Flip lid compartments open and slide to reveal two separate treat hiding spots while removable brick bones conceal the third hidden compartments in this puzzle dog toy.
- ENCOURAGES POSITIVE PLAY HABITS: This fun and rewarding puzzle is great for reducing anxious dog behavior and redirecting destructive behavior.
- BPA, PVC & PHTHALATE-FREE: Nina Ottosson by Outward Hound interactive treat dog puzzles are designed with your pet's health in mind from food safe materials that you can trust with your dog. Easy to clean with warm water and soap between uses.
- PLAY IT SAFE: No toy is indestructible. Do not leave toys with unsupervised pets. Remove and replace toy if damaged.
2. PAW5: Wooly Snuffle Mat
The Wooly Snuffle Mat is a great way to do some “nose work” and stimulate his foraging instincts.
While there are a lot of super cute snuffle mats out there, I choose this one because it’s has some great features.
Features
At 18×23″, the Wooly Snuffle mat is perfect for for all dogs, including Huskies.
It’s made with non-toxic and responsibly sourced cotton and polyester materials that are designed to last.
Pros & Cons
- Pros -Non-toxic, encourages foraging instincts, machine-washable
- Cons – Requires supervision, not chew-proof.
Recommendation
I actually tried to make one of these myself, but it’s a lot more involved than it looks!
So, I finally caved and just bought one. I love the Paw5 mat because it’s easy to wash and fairly durable.
However it’s not chew-proof.
Pups can easily tear off pieces and swallow them, so just make sure your dog plays with it while you’re in the room.
Also, it’s NOT a feeding mat, use it only for treats.
- Happy Dog Promise: Our premium snuffle mat for dogs will keep your puppy calm & occupied, fulfilling your dog's natural desire to sniff. It can be used with your dog's normal dry food instead of a dog bowl, or as a small dog bed
- Improves Metal Health: Ideal for all-sized dogs, Paw 5 dog enrichment toys make mealtimes fun & stimulating. Promoting slower eating, reducing bloating & gulping. Improving your dog’s health & mood. A boredom buster dog feeding mat your dog will love

- Ethically Sourced in Ghana: Paw 5 dog supplies are manufactured in West Africa via Ethical Apparel Africa, supporting African factories to grow & equality for women. We're passionate about giving back to the community & ensuring a sustainable future
3. Hide-A-Squirrel Puzzle Game
When I first bought this toy for my dog, I assumed she would destroy it fairly quickly.
Four years later, we still have all of the squirrels in one piece!
I’ve heard countless other dog owners say the same thing- for some reasons even the most destructive pups just don’t ruin this toy.
Features
Comes in multiple styles and sizes. This particular one is the XL model- just right for Huskies.
It includes the “tree trunk” as well as four squirrels. Hide the critters in the trunk and encourage your pup to find them.
Believe me, it’s actually a lot more entertaining than it sounds.
Pros & Cons
- Pros – Inexpensive replacement squirrels available, engaging their “hide and seek” instincts, durable
- Cons – Not chew-proof, small toys require supervision
Recommendation
Although even my super destroyer leaves her squirrels in one piece, they are NOT chew-proof.
Since they are small, you’ll need to supervise playtime, especially if you have a dog that likes to swallow things.
If your pup does chew- or lose- her squirrels, replacements are fairly cheap!
- HIDE & SQUEAK FUN: The Hide A Squirrel dog puzzle is an easy way to get your furry friends engaged for hours of fun! Just fill the tree trunk with 6 stuffed squeaky squirrels, toss it, and let your dog's natural hunting instincts kick in!
- 2-IN-1 INTERACTIVE PLAY: Toss the squirrel-filled trunk, place it on the ground, or take the squeaky plush toys out and launch them for a game of fetch your dog is sure to love!
- CHALLENGING & IRRESISTIBLE: Keep boredom at bay and your curious canine mentally-stimulated while feeding their natural instincts to hunt with plush squeaky squirrels they won't be able to resist!
- GENTLE ON THE TEETH AND GUMS: The stuffed plush texture of the Hide A Squirrel dog toy is easy on the teeth making it a great choice for both puppies and adult dogs alike.
- PLAY IT SAFE: No toy is indestructible. Do not leave toys with unsupervised pets. Remove and replace toy if damaged.
4. Wobble Wag Giggle Ball
This fun ball is perfect for helping relieving some energy both indoors and out!
The giggling sounds engage your dog’s curiosity and help satisfy his prey instincts.
Features
Glow-in-the-dark material makes it perfect for day and night.
The phthalate free vinyl is safe and non-toxic (obviously, I wouldn’t recommend something poisonous!)
Plus, as your dog pushes it and pounces it, he’ll get a workout, too!
Pros & Cons
- Pros – Durable, safe materials, encourages curiosity.
- Cons – Only one size, requires supervision
Recommendation
While this is definitely a fun toy, again, you really need to supervise your dog while he plays with it.
It’s not at all chew-proof, so it’s not ideal for Huskies who love to chomp their toys to pieces.
- PLAYTIME ANYTIME OF DAY Wobble Wag Giggle Glow in The Dark is a fun way for your pup to play day or night! The glow in the dark material illuminates in the dark so your dog can play no matter the time of day!
- GREAT FOR ALL DOGS Young or old, big or small, this toy is fun for all! Wobble Wag Giggle Glow in the Dark is sure to keep your dog active & entertained throughout the day with endless play! Charge the glow by placing the ball under a light source before play!

- PERFECT FOR INDOOR AND OUTDOOR PLAY Whether your dog likes to play in the park or in your home Wobble Wag Giggle Glow in the Dark is fun! Watch as your pup leaps and bounds when they hear these playful sounds! This is an interactive toy meant to keep your dog entertained and active.
- DURABLE AND SAFE This toy is made with flexible and durable, pet-safe, phthalate free vinyl. As always, make sure to supervise your pet during playtime!
5. PETSAFE AUTOMATIC BALL LAUNCHER DOG TOY
Fetch is great for helping relieve pent-up energy, but what if you have a health condition that makes throwing a ball over and over again a bit challenging?
Some of us have carpal tunnel, shoulder, and back problems, after all!
That’s where an automatic ball launcher comes in handy!
Features
This is among the safest automatic ball launchers available.
It has three different sensors to ensure that it doesn’t accidentally launch while you or your dog is standing in front of it.
Pros & Cons
- Pros -Safety features, automatic shut-off,
- Cons – only uses tennis balls, super pricey
Recommendation
While I love the safety features on this launcher, the price is a bit steep!
However, if your dog loves playing fetch as much as mine does and you can’t always throw the ball, it’s worth it.
As with all ball launchers, though, don’t just set it and forget it. Stay close by at all times.
Even with the added safety features, technology is far from flawless.
- SAFETY: Multiple sensors keep you and your dog safe; a FRONT MOTION SENSOR protects pets and people standing up to 7 feet in front of the launch area and reinforces safely loading balls into the side pocket
- DISTANCE: Launcher throws between 8-30 feet; has 9 distance settings and 6 angle settings; pull out and twist angle knob and distance knob to adjust the launcher’s range; TURN KNOBS LEFT FOR MAX DISTANCE
- PAUSE: The Automatic Ball Launcher features a 15 minute rest interval after 15 minutes of play; the rest period ensures dogs aren’t playing past the point of exhaustion
- OPTIONS: The PetSafe Automatic Ball Launcher can be used both indoors and outside to entertain and exercise your dogs; begin use outdoors as an introduction; use the included power cord or 6 D cell batteries (not included); water-resistant
- FLEXIBILITY: The PetSafe Automatic Ball Launcher works best with standard size tennis balls 2 5/8” in diameter but can be used with smaller tennis-type balls; up to 3 balls can be loaded at a time
Best Durable Chew Toys for Huskies
6. Kong KP32 Puppy Activity Ball
You can almost never go wrong with a Kong!
By now, I think everyone knows about the famous red Kong, so I’m sharing something more for puppies here.
After all, who needs durable chew toys more than a teething Husky pup?
Features
The softer puppy Kongs are made for growing teeth and aching gums.
The patented Denta-Ridges can be filled with Kong’s squeeze tube treat or peanut butter, while the inside can hold larger goodies.
Pros & Cons
- Pros – promotes appropriate chewing, good for teething puppies, patented Denta-Ridges
- Cons – only durable for pups
Recommendation
The KONG KP32 comes in two sizes, but I’d get the larger one for your Husky.
While the “stuffability” is definitely one of the biggest selling features of Kong toys, they’re also great on their own.
Maybe even try freezing it a bit to soothe those really aching gums.
Just remember, this one is only made for dogs up to about 9 months of age, so if you have an older Husky, keep reading for more appropriate options.
- Teething Puppies: The natural KONG Puppy soft rubber formula is customized to soothe your puppy's sore teeth and gums
- Appropriate Chewing: This toy promotes positive chewing behavior by satisfying your puppy's natural instinct to chew. This is intended for dogs up to nine months of age
- Great For Stuffing: The KONG Puppy Activity Ball is even more enticing and can extend play time when the center and patented Denta-Ridges are stuffed with KONG Puppy Easy Treat, Puppy Snacks or peanut butter
- Small Puppy: For puppies up to 35 lbs / 16 kg. This toy is intended for dogs up to nine months of age
- Made In The USA. Globally Sourced Materials. Assorted Colors: This toy comes in either pink or blue
7. Benebone
Benebone is another great choice, and one of my favorites because of their brand mission statement.
The company is passionate about helping dogs.
They donate products to shelters as well as actively engage in the community.
Features
Benebone only uses real food ingredients to flavor their toys. This one has US-sourced bacon fused throughout!
Pros & Cons
- Pros – Safe, natural, great brand, US-made, guaranteed
- Cons -Pricey
Recommendation
While Benebone is pricier than some others on this list, their mission combined with their dedication to customers makes them a top choice.
Plus, these toys last longer than just about any chew I’ve given my dog!
- DURABLE, LONG-LASTING – Super chewer? Bring it on. Benebones are tougher than real bones and last for weeks.
- REAL BACON! – We use only 100% REAL BACON for flavor. Trust us, dogs can tell the difference.
- EASY TO PICK UP AND CHEW – The Wishbone is curved for a paw-friendly grip so your pup can quickly grab it and get a good chew going. Think about it: dogs don’t
- USA MADE – We make and source everything in the USA.
- HAPPINESS, GUARANTEED – Have an issue? Want to chat? Reach out to us directly and you’ll get a real person whose sole job is to make you and your pup happy.
8. Safe & Long Lasting Chewable Sticks
Do you know how dogs just love to chew on sticks?
Well, this toy offers a much safer alternative!
Although they’re made with real wood, they have synthetic materials mixed in to prevent splintering and other nasty issues.
Features
With four sizes available- including two that are large enough for Huskies- these stick toys offer hours of enjoyment without all the dangers of chomping on a random tree branch!
They’re made from durable non-toxic materials and feature dips & ridges to mimic natural branches.
Pros & Cons
- Pros – Safer than branches, flavored to be more appealing, perfect for fetch.
- Cons – Not indestructible, no unflavored options
Recommendation
As much as I love these safer chew sticks, I do wish they came in unflavored options.
Not everyone wants to give their dogs something with artificial flavorings, after all.
However, I had a dog that LOVED chewing on sticks, much to my dismay, and this really did satisfy that urge.
I know I keep saying this, but as with even the best dog toys for Huskies, please keep an eye on your dog and remove it when it gets too small or damaged.
- DURABLE STICK TOY: With all the taste and texture of real wood, this BBQ flavor doggy chew satisfies your dog’s natural chewing instincts with a tough, safe and non-toxic alternative to wooden sticks.
- NO SPLINTERING: Safer than chewing real sticks and branches which can harm your dog’s mouth, these tough chewable dog toys combine real wood with durable synthetic strength.
- MESS FREE CHEWING: Keep chewers occupied to help reduce and redirect destructive chewing behavior. Unlike natural sticks, Dogwood chew toys minimize mess on your floors.
- INTERACTIVE PLAY: Dogs love to chase a stick, so these chewable wooden throw toys are ideal for outdoor interactive play with your pets. Also great for retrieval training
- RANGE OF SIZES: These wooden stick chews come in 4 sizes to suit big dogs down to a teething puppy. Dogwood real wood dog toys are lead and phthalate free and made in the USA.
9. Nylabone Power Chew
Like Kong, you can almost never go wrong with a Nylabone…as long as you choose the right one for your dog.
I love their Power Chew bone for Huskies because it’s specially made for large breeds who love to chew.
Features
Multi textured chew toy satisfies natural urge to chomp while also massaging gums and cleaning teeth.
Pros & Cons
- Pros – Durable, made for power chewers, made in the USA, peanut butter flavor
- Cons – not totally indestructible, some complaints about sharp edges
Recommendation
My dog has multiple different Nylabone toys, but this one has lasted the longest so far.
She does manage to pull pieces off it, so again (you know what’s coming), supervise your dog!
I usually sweep up after she’s done with her nightly “quiet chew” time to get all the little bits off the floor.
Then, I give it a rub-down to make sure she hasn’t managed to chew any sharp edges into it. If she has, I throw it out.
- Fun and occupying chew toy keeps dogs busy while satisfying their natural urge to chew
- Durable dog toy challenges power chewers and discourages destructive chewing
- Helps clean teeth and freshen breath as dogs chew
- Proudly made in the USA!
- Souper chew toy intended for dogs over 50 pounds
10. BarkBox Monthly Subscription Box
I had a hard time deciding where to put the BarkBox Subscription, as it’s filled with a mix of chew toys, treats, and even some destructible plush items.
Still, I definitely want to mention it, because it really is worth checking out.
Features
Your Husky gets brand new (and often crazy cute) themed toys every month. He’ll also get some tasty high-end treats and chews.
Pros & Cons
- Pros -constant supply of new goodies, fun themes, affordable
- Cons – toys aren’t indestructible
Recommendation
Not only is Bark a favorite for my dog, but for me as well!
The themes are always so fun, and I love seeing what they come up with next.
Bark Box offers several different options for dogs of all sizes and personalities, so make sure you take the time to choose the right one for your Husky.
Final Recommendation
All of the best dog toys for Huskies offer something different, so I don’t really have a top pick.
If you can only go with one, though, Bark Box makes the most sense, since you get multiple toys and treats.
If you’re on a budget, though, go with either the Outward Hound puzzle toy or the Benebone.
These are all excellent picks! Huskies are SOOOOO mouthy and full of energy. They need toys that can stand up to that combination.
Great ideas for huskies but it gives me some ideas for my shih tzus too. My dog loves to play with toys but stimulating his brain makes so much sense.
I didn’t realize that there were different toys for different breeds. I’ll have to check these out for our pup.
I think all dogs like toys. These look like good toys for the big dogs
I can see my dog benefiting from these toys. I really want to try him with the Wooly Snuffle Mat and the Hide-a-Squirrel Puzzle Game.
it is a great idea to get toys there are specifically designed for your breed of dog.
Our husky loves digging in our rugs. The gift ideas above are ideal for him. He’s so playful.
